As a lifetime member of the community in Northwest Indiana, Maya has seen first-hand the concerns facing our Region and is committed to ensuring the growth and prosperity of each of its citizens through effective advocacy and representation in the State Legislative Assembly.

Maya’s experience in the healthcare field, and tradition of community service makes her the right choice to understand what our community needs to effectively grow in and to ensure that our issues are addressed at the State level.

From Maya’s role as a mother, grandmother, member of the church, and various Republican Women’s group, she has demonstrated the importance of understanding the needs of her community and effectively advocating for them; while also explaining the impact the dynamic and evolving legislation has upon them.
About Maya
Maya’s journey began in Gary, Indiana, where she experienced the rich tapestry of her community. At an early age her family knew she had a strong desire to help others. She is the mother of six adult amazing children and five beautiful grandchildren. Maya understands first-hand the many challenges of hardships; however, she has overcome them all. Maya craves to see that the needs of others met and to ensure everyone has opportunities to live a productive and prosperous life, this can and will be done one of the ways by bringing more services to communities and programs that will restore self-esteem in the lives of families. Her early accomplishments include being the President of Parkshore Commons housing development, where she was also a resident. Her record of community service extends beyond traditional politics, as she has orchestrated community events to address living challenges and foster unity. Maya is a active member of V1 Church in Portage, Indiana. Currently she serves in Healthcare, specializing in Memory Care and Behavioral Health Issues. She has witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by individuals in these critical areas.
A Qualified Candidate
Besides being a member of the United Federation of Republican Women, Gary Charter, where she sits a Chaplain, she is a member of the Indiana Federation of Republican Women. Each community’s needs are constantly evolving, and in this way Maya stays informed on issues in the cities and towns that are in her district.
The most important aspect of the Indiana Senate District position is to draft and vote on legislation and be sure that the people’s voice is being heard. This means doing a tremendous amount of research, holding Town Halls from time to time, and informing her constituents about how current legislation will affect them. Maya understands these responsibilities and is committed to doing this. She will have a dedicated team assisting her in reaching out to the people of Gary, Miller Beach, Merrillville, Hobart, Lake Station, New Chicago, and Winfield.
Maya’s genuine connection to the people and the values instilled in her have fueled her passion for public service. Guided by her unwavering faith and desire for prosperity freedom and unity for all, Maya Angelou Brown will appreciate your vote to be the Senate District 3 representative in the upcoming primary.
